GEM Energia is a trading name of Green Energy Management Ltd, a privately owned renewable energy development company. The business focuses on developing solar energy and battery energy storage assets both within the UK and Internationally. We also fund and jointly develop projects as a JV partner.

As well as developing our own renewable energy schemes, we are happy to work with land owners and investors in joint venture arrangements. This not only helps to deliver an increase in land values, but also allows the land owner to share in any development profits by remaining as part of the development team.

Battery Energy Storage

Modern battery storage solutions generally comprise clusters of batteries housed in small containers sitting in compounds. They are usually surrounded by fencing or hedging, often on built up earth banking to make them as unobtrusive as possible.

Battery storage technology is an essential part of the process to remove reliance on fossil fuels from the world's energy mix and replace it with renewable energy. Battery storage allows electric energy created from sources such as solar, wind and hydro to be stored and then released at peak times during the 24 hour cycle.

Installed battery storage systems are considerably more sophisticated than the batteries used in household items. These intelligent systems contain integrated control and operating software which uses complex algorithms to coordinate the optimum time of the day to either charge or discharge the batteries. Energy which was stored at a time of low demand can then be released during a peak demand period thus helping to optimise our renewable energy assets.

Solar

Solar power is a major asset in the drive to reduce carbon emissions, being a readily available source of clean energy. In fact enough sunlight lands on the earth's surface in an hour and a half to provide enough energy for an entire years worth of the world's energy requirements.

Solar power is converted to electrical energy through sunlight shining onto the surface of a solar panel which is then absorbed by the photovoltaic cells in the panel. The energy creates electrical charges causing the electricity to flow. By linking enough panels together, enough electrical energy can be created to supply local energy needs.

Solar is currently the fastest growing energy source in the world and is forecast to be the number one source of electricity by 2035.

Development and JV's

GEM Energia currently has in excess of 1.7GW of renewable energy projects under development. We lead all aspects of each project from design and planning, co-ordination with consultants, right through to managing contractors and delivery of the completed project.

We are happy to work with landowners and investors in JV partnerships. Our team has developed over 5GW of renewable energy projects including solar, battery energy storage and energy from waste.
